Gearbox Breather

The gearbox breather is a small but essential component designed to improve the reliability and durability of gearboxes operating under demanding conditions. It is widely used on both the PTO gearbox and the implement gearboxes of the MTSK1200 Remote Orchard Tool Carrier, ensuring stable performance during long hours of continuous operation.

As a gearbox operates, friction between gears and bearings generates heat, causing the lubricating oil and the air inside the housing to expand. This increases the internal pressure, which can place excessive stress on the oil seals and gaskets. Without proper pressure relief, the buildup of internal pressure may lead to premature seal wear, oil leakage, and reduced gearbox service life.

To address this issue, each gearbox is equipped with a high-quality breather valve. The breather automatically equalizes the pressure between the inside of the gearbox and the outside environment by allowing excess air pressure to escape while preventing dust, dirt, moisture, and other contaminants from entering the gearbox. This ensures that the gearbox remains properly ventilated without compromising its sealing performance.

By maintaining stable internal pressure, the gearbox breather helps protect the oil seals, reduces the risk of lubricant leakage, and preserves the integrity of the gearbox under prolonged heavy-duty operation.
